Grace for the Growing Pains

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

Isaiah 43:19

Let’s be real, change is HARD.

At work. At home. In our hearts.

Change has a way of shaking things up, doesn’t it? It exposes the places we’ve gotten too comfortable and forces us to face what we’d rather avoid.

I’ve been walking through a season like that lately, where everything seems to be shifting at once. Leadership changes, systems changes, family changes, heart changes. It’s a lot. And when that happens, it’s easy to start feeling like everything (and everyone) is working against you. But sometimes, it’s not that the world is against. It’s that God is trying to grow us.

Growth doesn’t happen in comfort zones.

We say we want growth, but we resist the discomfort that comes with it. Change pulls us out of familiar rythms, and it can make us feel unsteady. But maybe thats the point. Maybe God allows certain things to change because He knows that the comfort we’re clinging to is keeping us from the calling He’s leading us toward. That coworker dynamic thats shifting? That relationship that feels distant? That new season you didn’t ask for?

All of it might just be the soil God is using to grow you deeper, to refine your character, stretch your faith, and show you what He’s really made you of.

When Change feels like chaos, choose grace.

When people feel threatened by change, they often act out of fear. It’s not personal, it’s human. Some will get defensive, others will pull away, and some will even assume the worst. But this is where grace steps in. Grace says, I’m going to believe the best in you even when I don’t understand you. Grace says I’m going to slow down before I snap. Grace says I’ll give space for others to adjust while i do the same.

Change doesn’t have to divide us, it can develop us. But it takes humility and heart to see that. So whether you’re leading a team through transition or just trying to navigate the changes in your personal life, relationships, kids growing up, healing old wounds, or rediscovering yourself, remember this: God is still in control of every moving part.

Sometimes God has to disrupt before He can develop.

If it feels like things are falling apart, maybe they’re actually falling into place. You just cant see the full picture yet. He’s the same God who turned wilderness into pathways and desserts into rivers. If He could do that, He can definitely handle the changes in your life, your home, and your workplace.

A Prayer for Seasons of Change

Father, help me see You in the middle of the shaking. When things feel uncertain, remind me that You are not. Give me peace when I want to panice. Teach me trust Your timing and to give grace to others as they grow too. Thank You for loving me enough not to leave me where I was. Amen.

Final Thoughts

Change isn’t against you, it’s growing you. It’s not punishment, it’s preparation. And as uncomfortable as it feels, I promise you this: the version of you on the other side of this change is stronger, wiser, softer, and more like Jesus than the one before. So take a deep breath Queen. Let go of what was. Walk boldly into whats next. Because you are Crowned & Called, even here, even now, even in the middle of the change.
